Russian Government Expands Scholarship Program for Zimbabwean Students

The Russian government has announced an expansion of its scholarship program for Zimbabwean students for the 2026/2027 academic year, continuing a long-standing educational partnership between the two nations. This initiative is part of Russia's broader commitment to African educational cooperation under the Russia-Africa study initiative.

Scholarship Overview and Allocation

Under the Russian Government Scholarship program—also known as the "Quota of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation"—Zimbabwe has been allocated a significant number of study places. The program provides fully funded tuition for the entire duration of study at accredited Russian universities, covering:

  • Full tuition fee waiver

  • Monthly stipend for living expenses

  • Accommodation in university dormitories

  • One-year preparatory Russian language course for non-native speakers

Available Fields of Study

The most popular and in-demand programs among Zimbabwean applicants include:

  • General Medicine and Healthcare – Russian medical degrees are globally recognized, and Zimbabwean students have consistently shown strong interest in this field

  • Mining Engineering and Geology – Aligning with Zimbabwe's mining sector priorities

  • Agriculture and Agricultural Sciences – Supporting food security and rural development

  • Information and Communication Technology – Meeting growing digital economy demands

  • Economics and Management – Building business and administrative capacity

Important Notice for Applicants

For specific inquiries regarding the application process from Zimbabwe, prospective students should contact the Presidential Scholarship Department in Zimbabwe. The Zimbabwean Embassy in Russia is not responsible for the issuance of Russian government scholarships.
